November and December Shaker Box Kits

Just a couple of thing I made using the Nov. and Dec. Kits. First one is from the Nov. Kit using paper, chipboard alphabet and tiles.

The frame used paper, rub-ons and ribbon from the Dec. Kit. Both of these kits are more than worth the price with tons of paper, embellishments, stamps, alcohol inks and ribbon. Go take a look and order yours before they are gone. Give yourself a Christmas gift!

November Kit Projects

I have enjoyed working with the Paper Trunk papers and other goodies in the November kit. Here are a few of the projects I have created with the kit so far.

A mini clipboard that can be hung from the wall or free standing. Sticker is not included with the kit.



A quick and easy cover for a plan notebook.



A coordinating holiday gift set that I like to make for teacher gifts. I made two identical sets for my son's preschool teachers. Paint, flowers and stamps are not included with the kit.


And I still have a lot of paper left over for layouts and other projects. If you have purchased the kit stop by our gallery and share your creations. We would love to see how you used the kit.

Inspire Me! Thursday

Strips of paper, I have tons of them sticking out of my scrap bin and I rarely use them. Most of them are too skinny to stamp on, so they get ignored...but I CAN'T throw them out!

Let's see what interesting ways you all can use your strips of cardstock and paper!

Anticipation of Christmas

Less than a week to go!

For this week's Do-it Digi Challenge, scan, photograph or digitally create a Christmas list or letter to Santa. You could also use a letter from Santa or a picture with Santa. Capture a child's anticipation of Santa's arrival.

Greetings from the Heart - 12/17/07

A little early for this weeks sketch, but DH & I have a busy day tomorrow, finishing up last minute shopping, haircuts, etc. Scraplifted this sketch from PageMaps.com, loved it so you can use up some small scraps and maybe an odd color card you have laying around (which is exactly what I did). It also covers Linda's SOS #43.

Hope all are finished with putting up decorations, shopping and can sit back and enjoy a couple of days relaxing before the big day. Finally got our tree up last week and put out a few decorations, not as many as usual but wasn't up to it this year, maybe next.

Friday Stash Challenge......

Linda has posted another great stash challenge over in the challenge forums again. This one should be fun - mix it up using a little bit of everything - something new - something not so new and as she would phrase it - something "older than dirt". This weeks inspiration is stencils. They were once really "hip" in the scrapbooking world and I have a bunch of them leftover!!

I have altered this one with my dd's initials with a girly flower pp and Bazzill flower. And, I even broke out the good ole' deco scissors!

The Gifts of Christmas

Wow! Only 13 more days until Christmas! That means we only have 12 more days to prepare right?! I hope to get my Christmas cards in the mail tomorrow and get started on my wrapping.

Here's the Monday Greeting from the Heart sketch, need to finish up those last minute cards this is a quick and easy one! I have been receiving some beautiful cards from the Christmas Card Swap and even got one using one of my sketches. Thanks to all!

Finally got out tree up and decorated, hunting our wreath hanger (why is it not with the other decorations?) so need to get in the mood to wrap presents, looks a little bare under the tree. Need to get DGS's gift, at 19 and living on his own with his girl we finally decided what would work.

Only 3 weeks left until the Jolly Old Elf makes his appearance, hope you all are more prepared than I am. Haven't even put up the tree yet, guess I better get in the spirit of things. Maybe some homemade fudge and Christmas music would do the trick. Anyhow, hope all have a great week, be safe and happy!

gearing up for christmas...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and getting into the Holiday spirit - decorating - making christmas cards and taking lots of pictures. The SOS stash challenge for this week is to make a christmas layout with the traditional red and greens!! I know its fun using all of the new PP and colors schemes that our out for christmas - but use up that old paper and make something fun - also use those Christmas stamps that have been collecting dust since last year. Inspire Me! Thursday

Today's inspiration is alphabets! They are so versatile, but I think we all have sheets of them that only have a handful of letters left. Today's challenge is to use those letters! You can spell shorter words like I did in my JOY card seen here in the Shaker Gallery.

Happy Thanksgiving! Get Inspired!

Happy Turkey Day to all!! This year I am thankful to have American friends here in England so that I can celebrate Thanksgiving with them! And, of course, I am thankful for my family and friends!

This week my inspiration came from the cover of a catalogue! I thought it was an absolutely delicious way of presenting a Christmas tree! I've seen this color combination alot this year also. Lots of pinks and blues and bright green!


Here is my example I didn't do the same colors, or individual pieces. I used polka-dot paper (another hot item in the scrapbooking world!).

So, I hope this inspires you to create! It would be great on a layout also! Be sure to link you creation back to the gallery! There are lots of other beautiful cards and layouts to inspire you there!

Well, it's Wednesday again so it's time for the weekly Do-it Digi Challenge. Friday Stash Challenge

This Friday's Stash Challenge invovles foam stamps. When these first came out I had to have them in my stash, I just thought they were cool. Lately I have let them sit on the shelf just collecting dust. It is time to dust off your foam stamps and use them with paint or ink. And don't forget to add something blue to your project. Everything Old is New Again

Last week's do-it digi challenge we were using elements that we recently purchased (maybe from all of the Digital Scrapbooking Day sales).

This week I want you to look at your digi scrapping papers and elements to find something old to use! Be sure to post your creation in the gallery at The Shaker Box so we can leave you some love!

I started digi scrapping back in the fall of 2005. I have deleted a lot of stuff since then, but I know I still have a couple of the very first kits that I bought. This week I'm going to "dust them off" and put them to use!

Think you have to use the latest and greatest releases to get published? Think again! As I was thinking about those older kits, it dawned on me that the layout that I had published this year came mostly from those original kits!

Fun and Fabulous Challenges!

This Friday's Limited Supplies challenge is to use stripe pattern paper, word/phrase sticker and leaves. There are lots of fun possiblities here for using up your stash, make a title out of word stickers or doodle your leaves. Post your creations in our gallery for all to admire.

Alli has also started a month long Alphabet challenge. Use your creations to fill up the alphabet but you can only use one letter per creation. I'm looking forward to trying to get all my letters filled up.

Get framed!! Inspire Me Challenge!

This week I was inspired by an article in an UK scrapbook magazine (it's called Scrapbook Magazine!) to use frames in layouts. Not just any old frame, but fresh and fun frames! I chose to do my framing with ribbon and another with chipboard shapes! The challenge is to come up with something unique to frame your photos in your layout! Visit the Inspiration Forum, there are lots of fun Can't wait to see what you come up with. Its Friday..............

Its time for another SOS challenge - i know we all need to try and use up our stash - and since its a holiday month and it is almost over we better squeeze in a Halloween challenge - dont ya think! I'm horrible at doing my holiday layouts - so maybe this is the push we all need!

Patterned Paper - We all have some Halloween Paper laying around don't we - i am not big on themed paper - but lets give it a try!
Stencil - do any of you have stencils of shapes from back in the day - I have a ton of them so use your stencils - wether they are Alphabet or shapes or even themed - i have a great Halloween one!
Paint - I LOVE PAINT - and i have alot of it - get out your paint and be creative - paint your stencils - or use it for your background!

Stick With It! Inspiration Challenge

We've all got them...but do we use them?? Straight pins, safety pins, even bobbie pins!! I have cute little jars full of these, and they end up being a decoration and not a scrapping tool. And, I bet you digi gals have them hidden somewhere in your computer!

I have enjoyed working with the October kit. I really enjoyed working with the Spring colors and thought they were perfect for an Easter layout.




For each layout I make I try to use something from my stash. For this one it was my scalloped scissors that I have had since I first started scrapbooking over 7 years ago. Okay ladies - their are so many goodies in the October kit. My Favorite was the paper - this prima is to die for - seriously. And there is soooo much of it. And the bling.......well, i will just make you wait - but i will show you a sneaky peaky of a card that i made last night. I'm frantically working to get all my projects done before Monday.

So the cardstock and the Patterned paper and the black flowers (who would have thought black flowers....but they look so good with the paper in the kit) are all from the kit.

Also we have lots of fun challenges going on over at the Shaker Box . Hurry and check out the Menu Challenge that Alli has posted this month. She listed a whole bunch of different kind of Candy and you have to choose five of those - kinda like Trick or Treating. You can have as many bags as you like - and in the next day or two - Alli will post which items go with which candy and thats what you will use to create your Layout! Sound fun?? Inspire Me! Thursday

There are SO many places to find inspiration in scrapbooking. In the scrapbook world alone there are galleries, blogs, idea books, monthly publications, manufacturers websites.....and then there is the rest of the world!! You can find inspiration almost anywhere, check out billboards, magazine articles and advertisements, art....the possibilities are endless. Here at The Shaker Box we have an Inspire Me Challenge every Thursday. I pick something that has inspired me and post it for everyone to draw inspiration from! It's great to see what everyone comes up with and how differently things can be interpretted!

This weeks inspirations comes from an idea book that I have. I have a bunch on my shelf, but tend to ignore them! The idea book that I am using is Autumn Leaves "designing with paper'. (if you have it...turn to page 47). My example is below, and I will post the layout that I am using it on later!

So, the challenge is to make a tag like this AND use it on a layout or card! I chose a heart, but you can use any shape (heart, flower, star, xmas tree). All you need is a tag, some scrap cs to back it and adhere all of the little dots that you punch out of scrap paper with your hole punch!! A little glue, faux or real stitching and voila'! I'll be posting my LO a little later!

Hi All, busy week so far and I completely forgot to post this past Monday, Sorry!

Yesterday was my 65th birthday and I had a great day! DH & I drove about 2 1/2 hrs. to have lunch at a little diner that was featured a few weeks ago on the Food Networks Diners, Drive-ins and Dives show (check it out at www.hullabaloodiner.com. Love that show, the host travels across the US and stops at all the neat off the beaten track restaurants. This one happened to be close enough to check out. We had the most amazing lunch, DH had chicken fried steak and I had an Italian Sausage with grilled green peppers and onions on a Kaiser roll. DH ended up eating most of his and half of mine. For dessert they had Cheesecake all the way from New York, WOW! Needless to say we suffered all the way home from overeating. Took a few pics so will definitely be a page for our album.
